Ben Wyvis
Ben Wyvis is not the prettiest of mountains with its flat summit skyline but it provided a short and easy day after the long traverse of the Fannaichs the previous day.

Starting point : Car park on A835 at Garbat |
After a not so early start the wonderfully constructed footpath was joined near the car park. This was basically followed all the way to the top passing thorough very pleasant wooded areas of the nature reserve complete with a very enticing stream running beside it. The steeper part of the climb is well distributed so never feels very taxing and then the wonderful mossy summit plateau was reached. This was the best day for weather during my June 2011 visit and the views south and west were wonderful. It was particularly pleasing to note that I had basically climbed all the peaks in the vast panorama that was spread out in front me. It was a wonderful feeling and I think this is what Munro madness is all about !!
